“My daughter and I read CeeGee’s Gift in our mother-daughter book club. It led to a very interesting discussion about childhood, facing difficulty, what it means to be gifted and how to deal with death. The novel is written in a way that allows young readers to consider large and important issues.”
- Kierstan, mother of a 12-year-old daughter
CeeGee's Gift: A Novel About Generosity
“As a host of an author interview series, I read a LOT of books. CeeGee’s Gift captured my attention and took me to that small, island town and into the lives of its residents. The sense of place and purpose is very strong.”
- Cari, Host of Chez Zee Author Series

“CeeGee’s Gift is a novel that stuck with me, and taught me valuable lessons on giving generously, I couldn’t stop thinking about it.”
- Anna, 13-year-old girl
This story came to me in a flash, much like CeeGee’s Knowings. I wrote it quickly and submitted CeeGee’s Gift as a one-act-play to the San Juan Islands Playwright’s Festival in 1992. It was one of six winners and was produced for the stage. It then won the Audience Choice Award.
Over the years I expanded the story to a novel set on the Texas coast, where I spent my own childhood summers. I again submitted the novel to competitions and CeeGee’s Gift was awarded Best Young Adult Novel by the Writer’s League of Texas in 2010.
CeeGee is now ready to go out into the world and I hope that she, Mr. Tindale, and all the citizens of Southport mean as much to the readers as they have to me.
